Lucero - Like Lightning
American punk and country-infused rock equals Lucero. It’s quite a mix if you take a minute to think about it. That equation describes them perfectly, from the country twang with the piano intro all the way down to the rock feel included in the guitars. Lucero released their eighth studio album, Women & Work, on March 13th. “Like Lightning” encompasses everything that Lucero is known for. They’ve got the keys and horns included from their last album and went on to add more of a Memphis-like sound that has a Bruce Springsteen feel to it. Lucero is one of those bands that if you haven’t heard of them before and enjoy Women & Work, I suggest you go back and listen to some of their older albums. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
“Now she was on fire, I remember the kiss in the car outside, sparks from her lips
And the way that she looked, like a storm on the horizon, wind in her hair, rain in her eyes
I remember soul, like a thunderbolt”
